Although, not harsh, here is a stack of rejection letters received over the years by yours truly:

  1. I’ll see your stack and raise you about 500. I’m still thinking of papering a room with them. The one I don’t have in writing – but would love to – is the “green” conversation passed along by a friend who was told by an agent’s assistant that they were discouraging writers in an effort to save trees. So, if you’re not published on paper, I guess you can think of yourself as environmentally correct.
